She sighed while picking up the other nine balls and continuing to juggle while stacking the dish washer, cooking the meal for an entire family of intolerant children and catering for the guests in the front room.
Shuffling over to the sink she ran warm water into a bowl with one hand while juggling all 10 balls in the air with the other.
Splash went a ball into the sink, splosh went another into the soup, crash went yet another into the dishwasher...until the rest of the balls lay rolling on the floor.
“Clumsy” said her eldest child walking into the kitchen to see what all the fuss was about.
“Mumsy” said the next youngest rolling her eyes in mock surprise.
“Umpsy” said the youngest crawling on the floor amongst the balls that were still rolling everywhere.
“Everything OK?” asked her sister from the safety of the next room.
The juggler turned her eyes to heaven and asked in a sad low whisper “Lord, don’t you care?” as she picked all of the juggling balls off the floor, “don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself?”
