So, you want to be a writer do you? Haven’t got a clue where to begin? Here’s a little idea I came up with to get you headed in the write direction. Yes, terrible pun intended!
Search your heart. What is something that God has been dealing with or bringing to your mind recently? If it is something that is of interest or importance to you, chances are it may be to your readers as well.
Turn your search over to God. Ask Him what He would have you to write. Should you write a fictional story or a testimony? What point of view should you use? Should your article be uplifting or compelling? Turn to God. He will guide you.
Acknowledge that God is in control. He gave you the desire to write. It’s His show; let Him conduct the symphony. If you try to lead the way, your attempts at creativity will be stunted and frustrated. He knows the plans He has for you and the direction He wants your writing to take.
Respond to the prompting of your spirit. A thought or idea keeps coming to mind, but just seems boring or too difficult to handle? Don’t resist. Respond to the nudging of the Holy Spirit.
Trust God to give you the message He wants to convey. It might sound droll to you, but if you are obedient and write it anyway, only God knows whom it is intended to reach. It doesn’t have to seem perfect to you. It may still be perfect for someone else out there. Just write what you are lead to. God will provide the words.
And that my friend is a fairly short secret to success. The main point? To be a writer, just S.T.A.R.T. writing!
