FEET TO GO AND FEET TO MEASURE


FEET, it's quite a subject. Most of our first thoughts would be about the two we stand on. Personally, I think about the arthritic knot on my right foot that makes shoe shopping difficult. Of course we consider those that can not stand on their feet, so they ride in wheel chairs. Then there are those that have lost a foot, or feet; so they learn to walk on artificial ones. There are also a few that were born without a foot, or feet. So much for the physical.

Next, we consider the ruler, the feet with which we measure things.
The kitchen needs new flooring; first we measure the square footage.
We can't mow our lawn; we need to hire someone to do the job. We call someone and their first question is "How many square feet it is?" Feet are also what piles up into miles as we travel down the highway. But, where are we going; what will we do when we arrive? The Bible tell us in Romans 10:15, "How shall they peach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"

Of course, all of us aren't preachers, at least not the kind that stand in a pulpit, but we are all witnesses. As long as we bring the 'good tidings' of Christ, we have those beautiful feet. It doesn't matter if we walk on natural feet or artificial feet or even if we roll,
we are included. Because, as long as we are on this journey for Christ, we have beautiful feet, spiritual feet, the ones that count.

So, tomorrow when we rise, where will our feet take us? Will we travel to one that needs the gospel or let our voices make the journey, on spiritual feet. If we leave the choice to Christ, we'll make the journey on happy feet.

Your ending brought to mind an old song..."these boots are made for walking...!" That's what we need to do to Satan.

You took a very literal approach to the topic, a very serious one. Because of that this reads almost like a devotional which is nice. But then I would put the scripture at the beginning of the story.

Check out the Advanced and the Masters if you get the time - most of us 'show' rather than tell. Even if you choose to do a literal take on the subject like you did, it helps to have an allegory or a real-life example.

But I do like how you incorporated both main meanings of 'Feet' in this.
