TITLE: A Quiet House | Previous Challenge Entry

When my own kids were little, they got a few noisy toys. Some mysteriously lost their batteries. Parents can get away with that for a little while. “Sorry Shnookums! Lambie doesn’t go ‘baaaaa’ anymore! He’s still soft and snuggly.”
If the pitter patter of little feet sounds like thunder in your home, and you wonder what you would have to do to get arrested and put in solitary confinement for a couple of weeks, then you must be a parent! But take heart, the noisy stage only lasts until they have all moved out. Try hard to enjoy these noisy years. It seems like a looooong time, but before you know it, your kids are off to college and the house will be quiet. Quick, change the locks and turn their bedrooms into office space and workout rooms! Just kidding! The empty nest tends to have a revolving door for a while.
My kids are all grown up now and the house is very quiet most of the time. Sometimes I miss the noise of children playing, including the joyful noise of toy musical instruments. I am looking forward to having grandkids someday soon. When they come to visit, I will enjoy the noise even more because when they go home my house will be quiet again.
Our Father in Heaven delights in hearing the “joyful noise” that his children make. He says:
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness:
Come before his presence with singing.”
