It had been this way for 2 years and Heather was frustrated. She wanted more. She knew he loved her. So why would he not pop the question? She wanted them to make a home together. Tonight, she decided she was going to drop some hints. Heather was an old fashioned girl and the guy is supposed to propose even if she has to tell him.
That night they went to the bowling alley with friends. “Krista, let me see that wedding ring again.” Heather made a big deal over her friends ring. Chuck just smiled. When it was Heathers turn to Bowl she slowly marched up to the lane as if she were carrying a bouquet of flowers. When she turned back to look at Chuck he just gave her a thumbs up.
“This man is dense. I guess I am going to have to be more obvious” she muttered. Sitting down beside him Heather grabbed his hand. “How do you think I would look in white?”
Chuck shrugged “You look great in anything but, white sure does get dirty easy.”
“Yes but if I wore something white in church it probably would not get dirty.”
Chuck leaned over and kissed her cheek. “I think you look real pretty sitting next to me in church no matter what color you wear.”
Heathers friend Krista leaned over, “Hey will you come to the bathroom with me?” When the bathroom had cleared out Krista asked. “What is going on?”
Heather checked her makeup, “What do you mean?”
“Chuck do you think I would look good in white?” Krista mimicked Heather.
Heather looked away. “Can I not ask my boyfriend his opinion?”
Krista started giggling. “What about the wedding march you did out there?”
Heather struggled not to cry. “I just love him so much and I am ready to become his wife and for us to share a home.”
“Oh, sweetie it will happen. He loves you. Heather remember it is in God’s time. You waited so long for a boyfriend and God provided. If this is meant to be he will provide again.” Krista hugged her.
“You’re right I know. Ok God I give it back to you. Help me to remember you are in the lead not me.”
Krista giggled, “Now, let me see that wedding march again. You’ve been practicing haven’t you?”
That night Chuck kissed her cheek and stepped back. “Heather there is something I have wanted to ask you.”
“What is it Chuck?”
“Will you marry me?”
Heather jumped into his arms “Yes, Yes, and Yes!”
Chuck sat her down. “I have wanted to ask you for some time but I wasn’t real sure of what your answer would be.”
Heather smiled, “Oh?”
“Yes, but after seeing you do that wedding march with a bowling ball I felt pretty sure I would get a yes.”
