Not that Sister Belauca gave up on receiving the power—after what happened to her in that meeting—she just changed her approach to the matter.
“Receive, receive the power,” the Evangelist shouted. Everywhere in the Sanctuary, people collapsed to the ground. From the nave’s rear, Belauca gazed at it and wondered. He just touches people’s forehead, and they receive the power of the Holy Spirit. I got to receive it too. She resolved and established a plan to advance through the crowd.
“Excuse me, excuse me.” She squeezed her little body between the people. Though the music was loud, she could hear to their complaints against her. “Hey, watch out, lady. You just stepped on my feet,” yelled a large woman and pushed Belauca away from her.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” She winced and made her way across the horde. I won’t give it up, Belauca encouraged herself.
On the front area of the altar, the Evangelist uttered the faith words again and again, “receive, receive.” Every time someone got hit by the power, the multitude cried, “alleluia, alleluia.”
After a long and suffered journey, smashing into the mass, Belauca finally arrived at the altar. She had to reach the Evangelist before the service ended. She was just a few steps from him. She motioned to approach him when a six-foot tall and large man, jostled her from behind and blocked her way.
“Hey!” She called out and poked him in the back. “You cut in front of me.” The man looked back and down to Belauca, and scoffed, “shut up sister.”Belauca’s face flushed and frowned. “You son of a gun, get out of my way…” What wretched man, she thought. The man smirked. She moved past him and walked towards the Evangelist.
The Evangelist came in her direction. It was fast. She stopped, looked up, smiled and opened her arms. He stretched his arm and tapped her front. “Receive, receive,” he shouted. Belauca threw herself backward and left it go… There was no one to catch her…
THUMP! Her body sprawled out on the flooring, and her head thudded against it, and everything went black for a moment…
The voices of the throng became distant, and the ceiling spun. “Ooooch…” She screamed, soothed her head, and sat on the floor. People kept falling, praising and singing. A deacon saw what happened and came close to her.
“Are you all right, sister?” He asked and helped her to stand up.
“Yeah…” She mumbled and looked for a pew to sit on. She smoothed her unkempt hair, thanked him and leaned back on the bench. What a… She thought.
“Don’t give it up sister, next time you’ll receive.” The deacon patted her shoulder, smiled and went his way.
Yes, next time I’ll receive… I’ll receive… She made a grimace and massaged the back of her head.
