Topic: CHILL (10/27/16)
Living on acreages, we have a ready supply of timber to burn in our fire. This is one of my biggest loves in life. Sitting next to the fire when it is bitter outside, cup of warm beverage in hand, cat on lap, throw rug looking quite gradma-ish…. good thing my grandsons qualify me now or my pride may have disqualified me from my blanky. This is bliss. Piece of heaven right here on earth.

Who doesn’t know though, that there is always a bookend to pleasure? Looking out my window, I am watching my three pre-teen boys struggle with a wheel barrow full of hardwood to stack on the veranda, uphill mind you. The tyre is flat and it is overfull. Why do they make it hard on themselves? Why not just pump it up? Or why not do a cuple of trips instead of doing it almost in one? Almost meaning there is that obligation of picking up the shrapnel that was jostled out en route to the house.

They’re peeved, and it is showing. I resist intervening as they share their disgruntled opinions between themselves loudly. No way do I want to steal this opportunity from them to choose to walk out truth. I gather kindness is no longer their motive as body language ramps up in aggression and I cringe at the emotional fallout. This is their own journey to choose. Their own mountain to go around. Their own beliefs to own. Hopefully they will have an “ah hah” moment sooner than later as to what they believe about this situation. Whatever it is now clearly does not work for them. Adopting His thoughts will be a good day finding them a heap of freedom.

A power struggle happens for the handles of the barrow and the whole thing ends up sideways dumping its entire load mid transport. It’s such a cold day out there and they will now spend a little longer feeling its bite. That doesn’t concern me as much as the emotional chill they will bring in the house that exists between each other. Good thing with kids though; they will all thaw by dinner time.

I am not going to comment on the spelling of a few words. I could get the meaning anyway.

I liked the story of the youngsters and their struggle with right and wrong.

Nice scenery in this story -inside and outside.

I can picture the kids. Great job. The one thing I would have liked to hear more about is their return to the house. How did it effect your nice, cozy spot by the fire?
