Flop rested on a rock with his two nephews. They had set off on an adventure together that morning after falling from the clouds in a thunderstorm. The warm sunshine and the traveling had made them tired.

‘Are we there yet?’ asked Top the tall raindrop.

‘Not too far to go now.’ answered Flop wearily. He was puffing heavily because he was a very big raindrop and all this rolling along was really draining him.

‘Oh dear,’ moaned Tip the tiny raindrop. ‘I have forgotten where we are going!’

‘We are on our way to the most amazing place, called Hot Springs,’ answered Flop patiently.

‘But why?’ questioned Tip.

Flop laughed kindly at the tiniest raindrop. Tip certainly didn’t remember things for very long. ‘Tip, Hot Springs is the place where we are changed from water to become something much more exciting! In the Hot Springs we become steam and then can go back to the clouds up above us. And that is what every water drop longs for – to go home.’

‘Yes, but how?’ asked Tip.

Flop smiled patiently as his nephew. He was certainly full of questions this morning.‘Well,’ said Flop ‘when cold water becomes hot, and it must be really hot, it is changed from a liquid into a gas. The gas is called steam. And steam rises up from the ground into the clouds. Do you want to rise up into the air Tip and be back with all your family?’

‘Oh yes uncle!’ Tip shouted happily.

‘Well then, let’s keep rolling’ Flop answered, and he gathered up his remaining strength to finish the journey. He led the way as Tip and Top followed behind.

Very soon they heard a hissing and a popping and a gurgling sound. There in front of the three raindrops on big, flat rocks lay hundreds of other raindrops rolling into steaming hot pools. The nephews couldn’t believe their eyes. There was so much noise and activity all around. When they looked up lovely puffs of steam rose gently into the air.

Flop stopped next to the bubbling pools and turned to his nephews. ‘Now boys we have to be strong and courageous. Sometimes it can be scary or may even hurt to do difficult things like jumping into hot pools. But when we do the hard stuff we are better for it. Life has difficult moments that we can’t escape from. If we be brave there is always something better ahead. This is our time to become the best that we can be. So let’s jump in together!’

But Uncle Flop was in for a big surprise! Before he could count to three, his nephews had already jumped into the hot pool. They were younger, smaller and faster than Flop the giant raindrop. And they were not afraid at all. Laughing loudly Flop jumped into the steaming hot pool behind Tip and Top. Together they were changed in an instant to steam, floating happily up into the sky.

God uses these hard things to change us into better people. Talk to God, asking Him to help you be brave and strong in these difficult moments.

Where do you think our true home is? What do you think it will be like? Thank God that one day you will be with Him and all those who love Him, in a wonderful new home.
