Trees--Christmas (conifer) trees--are particularly recommended and hopeful and helpful during this season of joy. Thank God for trees of all kinds and shapes and sizes. And may the tree of life rest upon your minds as you contemplate the joys of the season and of the whole year! Trees have more than one purpose and more than one destiny. Some trees protect us from the elements; others protect us from invaders--pests of all shapes and sizes. Many trees contribute oxygen to our atmosphere and environment and, hopefully, our urban forests are plentiful and bountiful. Try to top a titanic tree with anything that's manmade and you'll find it can't be done. But don't forget a shiny Christmas star atop a fir tree! It still won't outshine the magnificence of God's creation--the trees we can humbly observe. O Christmas tree--I appreciate you! And I am grateful for all of the memories of family and friends around the living room tree in the midst of Christmastime wonders and woes. Let the leaves clap their branches in praise of the Lord and may the trees somehow communicate praises to our wonderful Creator, perhaps with high-pitched sounds that are inaudible to our ears. More trees please!
