Child Wisdom
“Hey! What’s going on here? Did you have a Santa Claus’ gift shower in April?” I asked as I tried to make my way through the toy littered room.

“No Mummy, I am packing my bag and the baby’s also so you can pack yours, and the food for our trip,” said my son.

“Thank you Ronnie, that is a great help,” I said hugging him.

After Ronnie went to bed I opened his bag to check if everything was there and right on top of the bag was his children’s bible. I then remembered what he told me a few weeks ago. His Sabbath school teacher had taught the children that the Bible is God’s holy book and we have to treat it with reverence. She had told them that we should not put anything on top of it, not throw it down or sit on it. She also told that we have to say a prayer before we read it asking God to help us understand what is written in His holy book. When he told me all this, I wondered how much the children would have grasped from it. Now I thanked God for parents and teachers who teach our children good lessons.

We were taking a train trip to a mountainous area. Ronnie was so excited and pointed out all the trees and flowers to the baby and talked about creation in his own words which was really good. A fellow passenger heard his conversation with the baby; she told him that the baby was too small to understand what he was telling her. He answered the lady, “Jesus will keep all this in her heart and when she becomes five like me she will remember all that I taught her today.” We were all thrilled with his answer and the lady said, “That reminds me of Luke 18: 16 where Jesus rebuked the disciples for pushing children away from Him. He also said that the kingdom of heaven belonged to them. How true that is, we have an example right here.” I breathed a prayer of thanksgiving in silence as I always do, which was a lesson my mother taught me when I was a child. As a result, I depended on God for all my needs and wants. I never felt lonely because I always told Him all my discouragements, failures, victories and things that made me glad or sad. I asked His help in all my endeavors and He has always been my faithful guide.

We reached our campsite as the sun’s last rays dipped behind the beautiful green hills and the moon peeping a little later. There was nothing much to do except go to the cafeteria have a quick dinner, family worship and to bed. We rose up early to the loud chirping of hundreds of beaks and Ronnie’s singing, “Thank You for the world so sweet, thank You for the birds that sing, thank You God for everything.” After morning devotion and breakfast we set out to roam around the park with thousands of multi hued flowers. What a joy it was to see the Creator’s handiwork and when I commented on their beauty, Ronnie quickly followed with his own. “If the flowers here are so beautiful how will it be in heaven? Oh! My teacher said no painter can paint of heaven, is that so, Dad and Mom?”
“That’s right son. When you get back to the cabin, check I Corinthians 2:9,” said my husband.

“No. I want to know right now,” insisted the little voice.

“I do not know how it is written in your Children’s bible, but mine says, “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him,” answered his father.[KJV]

“Oh, I know what it means. These flowers which look so pretty here will look so ugly if they went to heaven. That is why God is making a surprise for us, making everything new,” explained my little one.

Part of a verse in Psalms 8:9 jumped into my mind, “Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings have you ordained strength,” [KJV]

It was not easy for us to plan this vacation. We prayed that God would make a way to take the children out of the city life to a place that God would help them to see His handiwork. Thank God for answering our prayers.
