We cling to it when dark clouds gather,
A steady hand in the stormy sea,
A cloud’s silver lining whatever the weather.
It cannot be bought with any price,
It must be earned day after day,
It is warmth within an ocean of ice,
A steadfast force that shall never betray.
If we could see it just for one look,
What would it look like for all to see?
Would it be pleasing like a childhood book?
Or remain clouded within deep mystery?
In the wrong hands it can maim and kill,
To bring down the one who stands in its way,
It can give the wrong man a deadly thrill,
It can make a righteous man pay.
When faith falls in the right hands,
Mountains will be mightily moved,
It is the foundation for all of God’s plans,
A miracle medicine for souls to be soothed.
Some say it is easily lost,
But seriously, how can that be?
Faith cannot be lost no matter the cost,
The truth that is Christ is for all to see.
