What a heart tugger! Very sad but you did a great job. I didn't see the end coming.

Oh my goodness! If this doesn't get recognition I will be so surprised!

I am crying! What a powerfully written story. This is a poignant and somber read.

The portrayal of the MC is extremely authentic. I've seen this happen so many times, having worked with this population for so many years.

It broke my heart, made me cry...and after all said and done, made me realize what a winner this story is!

Excellent job!!!!!

God bless~

Wow, what a zinger of a twist you hit us with at the close!
Very strong characterisation and pictures show real writing skill.
Your next step is on to Advanced level - surely!

Great writing here! Love the twist - and so believable. I have witnessed the elderly "looking" for long lost loved ones in my line of work - it is heartbreaking. What a creative way to step into their lives and view it from the "inside" as you describe how dementia sometimes shows itself in your wonderful story.
Interesting story with the surprising twist of an ending.

Nice writing. This probably took a little thought.

This is beautiful writing. Excellent foreshadowing and a wonderful twist. I particularly liked the World Cup reference.
My one spot of red ink would be that you used the word 'late' three times in your first four sentences. This led me to assume (wrongly as it turned out) that your range of vocabulary would be rather limited, rather than employing the richness of language that so characterises good writing. So maybe have a think about your introductory remarks. Aside from this, it was very good. Well done.

Captivating! I loved the twist at the end.
Oh wow...I never saw that twist coming.

Excellent job!!!

Alan,

Congratulations on a story that JUST HAD TO WIN! It was fabulous, hauntingly moving, and penetrated my heart!

Well done! So happy the judges got this right!

Fantastic work.

God bless~
I really enjoyed this. You nailed the genre for sure. Dementia is definitely a problem in today's world. It even entered my personal world this past week so the timing of your story definitely has God's fingerprints all over it. The ending was brilliant. I love a good twist and didn't see this coming at all. Congratulations on your first place ribbon and for ranking 14th overall! Happy Dance!!
