Topic: Dead End (02/06/14)
The ever-increasing humanistic culture in which we live is waging a subtle war against the souls of men. This may sound like an over dramatization of current affairs but, in my view, the dangers of humanism to the human soul cannot be overstated. Beginning with the dawn of the Enlightenment in the late 17th century, men began to question religion and to question anything supernatural. The search for naturalistic explanations for the origins of life reached a culmination, of sorts, with Darwin’s publication of The Origin of Species in 1859. Some 155 years later the theory of evolution is widely considered to be scientific fact by much of the scientific community and by much of the general public. As a result of this widespread acceptance of Darwinism, mankind is being subjected to an assault on our identity that is unprecedented historically.
Now, I am a student of history and I am under no illusion that past cultures, even ones that were highly spiritual and religious, were utopian. The scandalous and sordid history of the Jewish people, as reported in the Scriptures, is a testament to that. However, I cannot help but feel as though this present day humanism that seems to be sweeping our world is especially sinister. The evil of humanism is not found in the theory of evolution by natural selection itself but rather the great evil of humanism is found in the idea that mankind is nothing more than a cosmic happenstance. The great evil of humanism is found in the idea that mankind is the prime possessor and originator of what is morally right and what is morally wrong. And the ultimate evil of humanism is that it denies the very Creator by and for whom humanity exists. The philosophy of humanism is a dead end philosophy of life. It offers no real purpose for existing, it offers no transcendent parameters by which one should live, and is therefore an impetus to moral and mental decline and decay.
In spite of the rhetoric that is coming from the celebrated leaders of the modern day humanist/atheist movement, which includes men like Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, and the late Christopher Hitchens, the ultimate end of the humanist philosophy is an amoral society that lives for the pleasures of the moment. This, also, is a dead end. Humanists believe that a society without religion at all would be a wonderful society. However, they fail to realize that they themselves are living off of the grace of God which comes to the world as a result of the community of godly saints, whom Jesus calls the salt and light of the Earth. It is Judeo-Christian principles that have permeated Western thought and civilization, which have brought about respect for human life, equality, freedom and democracy. Humanists have no idea what a cold and dark world this would be if the restraining presence of the Holy Spirit, and the lights of the world, were to suddenly be removed. Humanism is a dead end philosophy, leading nowhere but to destruction.

Very powerful article. This is so very true! This needs to be sent to alternative media sites that will boldly post it for others to read. Messages like this are being stifled by the main stream today.

One thing that would make for easier reading is to break down the article into smaller paragraphs.

Although I agree with your perspective, your presentation of the information seemed to resonate with a confrontational flare. I would be curious to know if your goal of the writing is to sway opinion away from humanism or to further create division in our society. As a Christian, I am reminded of I Cor. 13, "Love is patient, Love is kind.." I hear the passion in your words but I believe in order to reach the people you may hope to reach, filtering the passion into facts that support your ideas may be more productive. However, if your goal is to be confrontational, your writing presents in an extremely educated manner. You have a brilliant ability to utilize language and powerfully present your view.
