In all languages there are phrases that capture meanings and convey mental pictures for communication between the speaker and the hearer; a few of such of our American culture are, "flat as a pancake," "yeah, clear as mud," "as old as Methuselah," the listing would be lengthy. So is it any wonder that I immediately thought of several mental pictures when I saw the words, "Days End?"

To mind came the mental snapshot of work and 5:00 o'clock each weekday when I click on the "shut down" button of my computer. That is a moment of felt completion, and also expectation for what must take place in the following few hours of the day.

I thought of the multiple experiences of my life when a particular occurrence, some good and some painful, had stamped the seal "Closed" and the experience became history. We all have such things happen in our lives when the end of a job has come, or when we move to another place, or get married, or get divorced, or someone close to us dies, or we have a new baby arrive, and for the mother the eternal state of pregnancy is finally in the past.

Evident is the fact that there is no "final" anything. There is only closings, with continuations of another experience.

The person with understanding and wisdom will prepare: they will think ahead and realize that when Jesus said regarding the resurrection of the dead, "As touching the resurrection of the dead, have you not heard that which was spoken to you by God, saying "I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?" "God," said Jesus, "is not the God of the dead, but of the living." Matthew 22: 31

We would say that those men were dead because they had died physically, Jesus is saying that they are living, and it is not metaphorical living, but really living.

The final "Day's End" of our lives that we call "death" is only the end of what we experience here. We continue to another place of living; our life continues, never ending.

When we prepare for a trip, in our current state of life, we have a multiplicity of places to go and as many hotels from which to choose. Preparing for our trip out of here (death) is different: we have two choices and the planning or preparing is also scripted.

The two destinations are named Heaven and Hell.

To go to Hell we need to do nothing but to continue to live as always we have, doing some good things perhaps, and doing some things that we know are wrong.

To go to Heaven, Jesus says that we, "Must be born again." John 3: 5-17

Being born the first time has a certain set of procedures that occur so that the baby is delivered and the breath of life required to live in this earth suit, is inhaled. Being born again has also a set of procedures that must occur and these are those procedures:

1. Realize that "all have sinned" and come short of the perfection that God requires.

2. Know, because God said so, that "The payday, for sin is death" (the state of continuing to exist, but separated from the light of God)

3. Hear that Jesus came to SAVE sinners from the eternal life which would otherwise be separated from God to a life that is forever lived in the presence of God, in light and eternal beauty and total acceptance.

4. Jesus said, "I am the way the truth and the life and no man comes to the Father except by Me." John 14:6

5. So, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you SHALL be saved!" "For with the heart man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

6. Jesus says, "Look, I am standing at the door of your heart; if any person will open the door to Me, I will come in and eat with him and he with Me." Revelation 3:20

Prepare for your Day's End; when from this life, as we now live it, we will be propelled into another Place, to continue to live forever.

Choose your Destination, make the plans to travel, or not to make the plans to travel; we will travel anyway. Our choices are Heaven or Hell. The choice should be easy to make, and must be made before Day's End.
