“A son, born to me, a man of 100 years old and his wife at 99?”
Abraham fell down laughing and thought, “and pigs might fly!”

Moses led the Israelites out from over two hundred years of slavery. The people walked right out of Egypt and into freedom toward the land of ‘milk and honey’ that God had promised them. They took up camp by the sea where God instructed Moses to take them. In the night a thunderous roar was heard in the distance. The Egyptian army with all its soldiers and chariots was in full pursuit! The people were terrified because they were hemmed in by the approaching army and the sea. Moses told them not to be afraid and asked them to be still because the Lord would fight for them and save them.
Just under the sounds of the sea splashing and the trampling army you could almost hear someone saying, “and pigs might fly.”

Joshua, the chosen commander of the Lord’s army was leading the Jewish nation to the God had promised. When a very secure city with its ominously strong wall stood between the people and their promised land an angel gave Joshua precise instructions how to defeat Jericho. Joshua believed the angel and relayed the message to his army. For six consecutive days, without making a sound, they marched only one lap around the enormous wall that surrounded the city. On the seventh day Joshua again commanded the priests to carry the ark of the covenant, the army to follow and all of them to march around the city. This day they would have circle it 7 times.
“After the 7th time around, sound your trumpets and Jericho’s wall will fall!” Joshua yelled as he gave the signal to start marching. They began to march.
An enemy soldier watched from the top of the wall and said, “And pigs may fly!”

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were 3 faithful Jewish men who worshiped the one true God. The king made a law that, on command, every person in the land must worship a gold idol. The penalty for not doing so was death by fire. The earsplitting signal sounded across the land and everyone bowed to the idol except the three young men. Summoned by the angry king they were given another chance to bow before the gold. They refused and told the king that God could save them from the fiery furnace and even if He did not they would never bow to an idol. This infuriated the king and he ordered for the furnace of death to be turned up 7 times hotter.
As one soldier threw them into the furnace he thought, “A God who can save from these flames, and pigs might fly!”

An angel appeared to a young virgin girl. He told her that she had found favor with God and that by the power of the Holy Spirit she would have a child and name Him Jesus. Mary pondered this in her heart.
How could she even imagine that this Jesus would walk on water, make the blind see, send demons out of the possessed, revive the sick, awaken the dead, die on a cross, save us all from our sons.
Some have heard this good news and still think, “and pigs might fly.”
“For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:37 KJV)

Yes, our God can and will do everything his character lead him to do.
This may be why it says, "If you love me, keep my commandments".
God is good.
Keep digging into the word and keep writing.
