Topic: Example (07/25/13)
As followers of Christ, we are called to follow His example. I Peter 2:21-22 says, "For to this you were called because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should walk in His steps."

Although we can never be perfect as Christ is perfect, by His grace and mercy we can live our lives with righteous conduct.

When we live by His Word, we will produce light and life for the world around us. We will gain wisdom and knowledge to help ourselves and encourage others.

"For to this were you called...that you should walk in His steps." We are examples of His love when we serve others and minister to their needs. As Christ fed, healed, and prayed for those around Him, we can offer hope by serving in a soup line, providing clothing to the needy, praying for those that are sick and dying, and listening to those that need encouragement. By these simple acts, we become the hands and feet of Christ.

When we follow Christ, we are touched with His qualities. We become more compassionate and generate more love.

As His followers, He assures us of eternal life. He has called us to take the Gospel and make disciples. We are called to point others to the One whose touch can change lives.

Linda Rich wrote a song called, "The Man of Galilee." She describes Christ as our example to follow. "I want to be like, I want to hear like, I want to see like the Man of Galilee. I want to talk like, I want to walk like, I want to be like the Man of Galilee." This should be the desire of every Christian.

This is a lovely devotion. Christ being the perfect example has been used a lot this week, and yours is well written and inspirational.

Oh I meant To say be super careful when quoting songs. It's easy to go over the limit allowed by copyright laws with songs because they often are short and repetitive. Your quote is likely fine, but always double check and make sure you cite the composer and lyric writer as well as the person who sings. Your Scripture verses were a great fit to your lovely message. Nicely done.
