The circumstances that brought me to this trade may seem rather bizarre to most, but looking back I can see God’s plan unfolding like a work of art, one that encompassed many years of troubles and trials.
I came to this country as a slave and worked in the home of one of the nation’s leaders until I was falsely accused of misbehaving. From that charge, I was thrown into prison where I spent many long days and miserable nights.
I managed to make several friends while I was there. I witnessed to them often and shared the omniscience of God even to their dreams. I watched many leave one by one, some left to the joys of a new freedom and others to the terrible pangs of death.
There were times I felt forsaken by God, but then I would always remember the dreams of my youth and those kept my faith strong. I knew I would not die in that dungeon for God had a plan.
Finally, the day came for my release. I remember it as if it were yesterday.
“Joseph!” The guards growled as they opened the squeaking gate. “You must appear before Pharaoh.”
My heart sank for just a moment, but deep within I knew this was my time. As I was being dragged away, I prayed earnestly.
Soon I stood before the throne, listening to the king describe in detail the dream that had now brought the palace to a screeching halt.
I knew that God had given me the meaning of the dream. There were going to be seven years of abundance, but those would be followed by seven years of horrific famine. God had also given me the solution.
“Build a warehouse and fill it during the years of plenty, then use the surplus during the years of famine.” I told Pharaoh.
Then Pharaoh chose me and gave me the position of Chief Executive Officer over all the gathering and storing of the surplus and subsequently distributing the groceries to the needy.
The neatest thing happened while in this position. It was just an ordinary day, business as usual, when an assistant informed me of foreigners who had crossed the border seeking to buy food.
I realized that God’s plan was unfolding from the moment I saw them. The dreams of my youth were about to become reality.
The foreigners who were now bowing at my feet were my brothers, my very own flesh and blood who had sold me into slavery years earlier. They were the reason I was in Egypt in the first place.
It was not their fault. I couldn’t blame them. God had sent me to Egypt and only now could I understand why, but to spare my family who were also plagued by this wide spread famine.
I played mind games with them for a while before revealing my true identity. After their surprise, I had them bring the entire family over to live near me.
It was great to be in a position to feed my family. To know that I helped to keep alive, the promise given to my father, my grandfather and my great-grandfather, was such an honor.
Someday when the list is made of all those who led up to the fulfillment of the promise, I may not be mentioned. My name may not make the great genealogy, but I will always be remembered for keeping bread on the table.
I would advise anyone today who feels as though they have been forsaken by God and all humanity, hold on to the fact that God is working his plan in your life.
The dungeons will be deep and dark. The betrayal will be painful. The false accusations will crush like boulders, but do not let your dreams die.
One day you will hear your name called, and the rusty gates of your prison will open. Then you will see God’s plan for your life unfold, and you will understand his grace.
Until then, remain faithful.

You certainly have a talent for taking out the main bits and relaying them to the reader, in a style that is so easy to read and flows incredibly well.
The ending ties the themes in beautifully; hope in times of hopelessness, faith when circumstances suggest doubt, the promises of God that remain always and forever.
I have only one question: did chariot come to "screeching halts?" He he!
A truly wonderful submission. Well done!
I love entries with Biblical intertwinings. Great job.

The ending with the part about "today" was just a bit jarring to me... I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be Joseph speaking to others, or the author speaking to the readers. I think even changing the word to "now" would have made it flow a bit better, and it would still keep the same meaning.
Nice job on this one!
