I took a huge helping of Genesis one time, ate too fast, and none of it digested correctly. Today, I will pace myself.
Oh, I love the immensely rich book of John. So rich it should be served in small pieces like cheesecake. I like to consume John before any other food in the Word. It lays sweetly on my heart and doesn't cause problems as long as I don't eat too fast.
Then the scrumptious book of Ruth. Small enough to be enjoyed all at once, I slowly savor every verse, letting it roll around in my heart. With some it has a bitter taste, leaving family, home, and friends after losing your husband. Ruth makes it sweet by doing it willingly and gratefully.
I move on down the table. I don't care for Kings, I can tolerate them once in awhile, same with Nehemiah. Job has a bitter center, I don't think I want that today. Ahhhh, Psalms, a culinary delight of aromas and tastes that thrill my soul. I think I will take from casserole twenty four today and just a little from dish sixty-three. Oh my, I've got to have savory one-oh-one.
My plate is filling up fast, I had better get desert now. Out of all these other treats, I think I will take Ephesians, Chapter one and just a sliver of First John.
My plate is piled sky high, to eat this much in one day I will have to chew slowly. Making two meals of it will help me digest it better. I know I'll have heartburn when I finish. No, not the uncomfortable kind, I'm talking about the fire of the Holy Ghost that makes me want to do more for my Lord. To win souls to His Kingdom by sharing this banquet with them. I will tell them to enjoy the banquet He has provided and that accompanying the meal at this banquet table, you get Living Water which means you will never thirst again.
Then, feast at this table every day to keep the fire kindled.
