appliances and utensils. Just above
my sink, a large window opens to the
outdoors. Each day, my window filters
nature's bounty to me.
In winter, I watch sunrises and
sunets shiver in gray and ebony. Slate
skies drift snow gently upon the
evergreens. Around the bushes and
trees, foot prints of fox and coyote
emerge.
Light blue skies usher in
spring with white cloud pillows.
Tulips, daffodils, crocus burst
from beneath the emerald carpet.
Bluebirds and robins line their
nest with twigs and moss. Arias
of joyful adoration exhale from
mockingbirds, cardinals and wrens.
The heat of summer burns ruby
red sunrises and sunsets. Roses
and hibiscus dance toward the
flaming sun. Rabbits chew on
tasty morsels of clover. Mother
bear and cubs stealth by my patio.
Summer marches out the door
and into the patch-work of deep
blues, purples and crimson of
autumn sunrises and sunsets. God
fills His easel with brilliant
oranges, golden yellows, fiery
scarlet and burnt browns on the
mountains. Squirrels hide nuts
and turkeys peck at the last
remaining bugs and seeds.
The wind spins down the
mountainsides taking God's easel
and heads toward another winter.
In my kitchen, my window reminds
me of Psalm 118:24, "This is the
day which the Lord has made; let
us rejoice and be glad in it."
