Topic: Achievement (03/08/12)
My to do lists are scattered on the table with mountains of receipts and pay slips and budgets and really it's just two of us. I don't run a business, don't have any children just work a full time job and run a house. When all of those lists are completed they will become achievements instead of tasks, ticks instead of blank spaces and I will be glad as they roll off the table into the recycling. Then another task comes and takes its place and the last achievement fades. They are just little things, but the ones that take up time and effort. They are life.

On the couch my Bible lies open, three of them actually. It looks like I am rather spiritual but instead I dwell with my little list of tasks trying to turn them into achievements. I sigh, life lives weary and why?

Am I dwelling in communion with God or am I ticking off my little list first and I find I am too tired for the greatest achievement of all? It is the achievement of reading the Word and praying that seems to birth no tidiness, no ticks on lists, no visible achievements and yet perhaps . . .

My attitude softens, I am living life in joy, peace and with energy as I entwine myself in God. The attitude entangles the achievements and I can live in thankfulness for each little one and realise that I must 'gather treasure where mould and rust do not destroy'. And I realise the greatest achievement is applying Scripture to my life.

Amen...The "Word" is so important to our lives while we walk in the flesh. Thank you for this beautiful reminder. Great job.

I really liked this. I have a chronic illness and some days it seems like my greatest achievement is getting up to go to the bathroom. It can be quite discouraging but you reminded me that my time with God is something I can do wherever I am or however I feel. Thank you for that. Congratulations for placing 8th in level 2!
