We so often hear about the sittings, meetings and so-forth of the UN (United Nations) to determine and execute justice on a global scale. However, it seems really at days end they, just as much as anyone else are powerless to do much of anything on a permanent basis.
The role of the United Nations? - "The main function of the United Nations is to preserve international peace and security". (Encyclopaedia Britannica online at - http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/616264/United-Nations-UN/12416/Functions).
For example, the issue of Syria, the crackdown, where the President has waged war on his own people. I firmly believe in the old saying that; "violence in combating violence only breeds more of the same".
"Syria's uprising faced one of its defining moments when President Bashar al-Assad followed in his father's footsteps and sent in tanks to crush protests in the central city of Hama, killing up to 100 people and triggering a new wave of international outrage". (News Extract from: The Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jul/31/syria-hama-crackdown-tanks-protests).
I pray with a "pure heart" every night for the innocent caught in amongst the guilty, whomever they may be and for whatever cause they pursue. One must ask oneself. "Is Syria's President, Bashar al-Assad's war against his own people a Godly driven Event"? I do not believe any of us can really sit and make judgement, for the simple reason; "of whom do we judge? God or Bashar al-Assad? Niether myself or anyone else really can judge, for truly Revelations unfolds according to the Letters found in the Bible.
We are told many times throughout the Bible that even God himself is no stranger to war that many times God incited (war), himself. Deuteronomy 20:16-17 declares, “However, in the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them…as the LORD your God has commanded you.”
Revelations speaks of the "The End of Days", where Natural Disasters (eND) occur with more frequency and violence, and war is waged against each other, families, communities, nations etc., Revelations 19:11-21 (v. 11). It’s going to be bloody (v. 13) and gory. The birds will eat the flesh of all those who oppose Him (v. 17-18). He has no compassion upon His enemies, whom He will conquer completely and consign to a “fiery lake of burning sulfur” (v. 20).
I believe the UN struggles to resolve issues because primarily they depend on "man" for answers. Whilst Governments and Leaders continue to ignore the warnings sent through Jesus two-and-a-half thousand years ago, little if anything can really be done at all to spare either Syria or any other country from "human genocide". If one reads the word "genocide" (G+O+C); using syllables and Acrostics (A+Cross+tics) we see something quite obvious - "GOC" or Spiritually reversed to be "COG" - the wheels of time are running out and in line with the Last Book of the Bible; Revelations.
In conclusion - I believe the world has been ruled far too long by evil forces, and sadly, the only way to remedy the situation is for Christ to return and reign once more. As His-Story (God's), will clearly tell us; nothing has changed since Jesus walked the earth in His time. People just refuse to follow the two greatest laws, those being found in Mathew 22:37 - 40
37. Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38. This is the first and greatest commandment. 39. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. 40. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
It is the mortal responsibility appointed to each and every individual and collectively to uphold the Law of God, the Laws that see humanity; "Live Well All Ways". (LWAL).
