Another day spent
Searching for something
I cannot find, although
I’ve tried and tried

To be employed
Used for a purpose
Contributing your
Talents and abilities

This is what everyone wants
To be gainfully employed
Working for money
And intrinsic reward

I did everything right
Studied hard
Earned top grades
Graduated with honors

Yet employment has
Alluded me, no job
To be found, my
Talents wasting

Why? The economy
Is in a downturn,
Many out of work, jobs
Few and far between

The greed of the
Powerful, no rules
To contain them, has
Brought the house down

The rest of us
Don’t want much
Just enough to
Live in some comfort

But their mess has
Trickled down, crushing
The rest of us
Below

So, who am I without
A job? Not working
Wasting time and talents
Unemployed

Where then has the dream
Gone? To work hard
For a living and
Provide what is needed

To be valued for what
You can contribute
Your skills traded
For sustenance

Tomorrow I will try
Again, resumes,
Interviews, filled
With possibilities

My eyes search the
Western horizon
Glowing with the setting sun
And hope

I am in the same situation with job search. Our job is to find a job and it is tedious, but we do not give up hope. Thank you for that shining reminder! I pray you are abundantly blessed soon with an end to your search.
