“You don’t know Sherry. When we got married, she somehow got attached to me and thinks that I should spend some time out of my week with her.”
“But the hunting season is about to open, and remember how much fun we all used to have – no women, beer, guns, no manners, no women, we can be free. Now, just cause you went and got yourself married doesn’t mean we can’t do all our old stuff. Come on now, you can wheedle your way into a little trip with your old buddies can’t you?”
“I . . . I don’t know. I kind of like having a wife and I wouldn’t want to make her unhappy. You know, we haven’t been married very long.”
“Oh, women are women. All they do is to want somethin’ or another – always wantin’ somethin’.”
“You only say that because you don’t have a Sherry. She is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.”
“Yeah, yeah, she’s cute all right, but come on – so are we and we’re more fun.” Bob says with a wink.
“I wouldn’t want to put that to a contest. She has a lot to offer that you don’t.”
“Well, I guess that’s true, but don’t you remember the big deer you shot last year? Wasn’t that fun? Us guys didn’t have a care in the world and we got to get back to nature. You know we gotta do that once in a while. Come on, you can do it – do it – do it – do it.” Bob begins to chant.
“Well, I guess I can ask – but I’m not making her mad and that settles it.”
“Try real hard though, we’re gonna have a great time. Jim’s bringing the beer, Dave’s bring Bar-B-Q sandwiches and Mark’s bringing the desert.”

At home, Charlie walks in the kitchen where Sherry is preparing supper. The aroma is heavenly. She is wearing her hot-pink shorts and a little white halter top.
“Hi, honey, you’re home just in time. Supper is just about ready. You just have time to wash up.”
Gliding past her is almost more than he can bear. He wants to touch her all the time, but he knows he must have clean hands.
Returning to the table, his face is shinning clean as are his hands. He is not as yet accustomed to the beautiful table she sets. It is like they have Sunday dinner every day.
“The grocery store had a sale on their beef and I couldn’t resist. I cooked it just the way Mother taught me. I hope you like it.” Sherry brushes a wayward lock of hair from her eyes – those eyes that have had his heart since the first day he saw her.
“It’s still hard to believe that she said 'yes' when I asked her to marry me. She could have accepted any number of other offers. Why did she choose me? Just lucky I guess.” Charlie is thinking as her delicate little hand offers him the green salad. He hears her talking.
“Charlie, I wanted to ask you about this week end. I know that we’ve been so busy lately that we haven’t had much time to ourselves – so I thought maybe we could take a drive up into the mountains, just the two of us. What do you think? Wouldn’t that be fun?”
“This weekend?” Remembering Bob’s words he must make a decision. “Well, ah . . . this weekend . . . Bob and the guys . . . .”
Sherry’s dark eyes flash at him. “Oh yes? What about the guys?” She leans into him with a soft kiss with those tender, full lips that keep him captivated . . . . Her hand finds its way across his arm and up on to his neck where she massages him. “I can tell you’re a bit tense, let me relax you. There now, doesn’t that feel better?”
“Oh, yes, oh, yes, that feels wonderful.”
“What was it you were going to say a minute ago, sweetheart?”
“I . . . I don’t remember – it probably wasn’t important – just keep doing what you’re doing.”
“But Bob . . . .”
“Bob who?” Charlie remembers, but he thinks, “Now that’s what I call friendly persuasion.”
