Topic: Once in a Blue Moon (01/06/11)
Someone asks how often I weed my garden, mop my floors, clean the toilet, or maybe just sit and do nothing…”once in a blue moon! How often do you get thanks for the endless hours of blood sweat and tears you put into family, work or ministry? “Once in a blue moon” The list goes on, and we can surely laugh as we say them too! We can rattle off words like these so easily but often if we look harder they can be tinged with passive sarcasm, or uncover a real feeling of guilt or loss of something that we would like to see, do or experience more of. How do you respond when you feel this way? Do you feel like you’re hard done by, or maybe not appreciated or understood? Do you quietly long for things to be different? Are you waiting for an answer, something that makes you feel “all is ok” something that makes you feel appreciated, loved and accepted?
There is an answer waiting; He’s name is Jesus Christ; He understands your pain; He understands your feelings of not being good enough. He wants to be your friend; a friend that loves with an unconditional and accepting heart. When you truly know Him you don’t need to look anywhere else for approval, and while it’s nice you don’t really need to be understood completely by others because you are completely known and loved by the creator of the universe. When a person is sure of these things there is no need for sarcasm, and no need to grieve what could or should have been.

thank you a timely reminder indeed. I am not sure if you previewed the piece but it seems some gremlins have got into the font somewhere along the line? Maybe it is only my computer that has picked up the hyrioglypics in which case i shall eat my words :-)

You've raised excellent, thought-provoking questions. And, yes, Jesus holds the answers to all of life's problems. Is there someone you know who came to that conclusion based on a life experience? You create more interest in your article when you use personal or anecdotal
illustrations to highlight the points you're making. With some exceptions, it's best to avoid a "preachy" tone, and an illustration or two steers you away from that.
