The moon strikes shadows on a lamp lit town, as the cool nights breeze foretells the start of a rainy morn. A lonely soul stands an unknown watch, for a cold and sleeping town. The wind picks up as the clouds move in, hiding the moons silvery glow. Though dark with clouds, wet with rain, the lonely soul stands watch on the bay.
The rain stops, clouds move on, and again the moon sheds her light once more. In the shadows of a dock, standing by, the lonely soul waits, a tear falls from in his eye. As he says a silent prayer, for those alone, he bares his shadowed heart to the sand.
Good journey dear friend, though life struggles on, yet here we say our sad good bye. Until in yonder land we meet again, at the feet of the golden stair, by the ever flowing fount. A single tear I shed for thee, though, could it be of jealousy. Onward you go to an eternal home, and here I must yet abide.
A last word to a bygone day, of youthful friends, and care free ways. The solemn thoughts of times before, and the blessed reunion to come. of nightly vigils standing watch, or walking in a cold pouring rain. Of Joys remembered, and laughter share, as well as the moments of pain and despair.
The lonely soul stands back, to think, with the horn's soft moan, on the misty brink. The moon shines bright on the waves at night, on the oceans incoming tide. Clouds descend in a foggy blend, of the misty tears of the sea. With hat in hand the lone soul stands, to bid bon voyage to thee.
