From where do we get purple? We combine blue and red. These two were also commanded to be used in God's house and for the priests. I've often wondered, "why those three?" Perhaps they were meant to be reminders. Israel could look to the blue of heavens above and remember that it was God that protected and provided for them. Red spoke to them of the blood of the sacrifices that God commanded to be made for a temporary covering for their sins. The two together said "royality". God was their king.
But, what about now? God sent His son to be a permenant sacrifice. He replaced all of the others for all time. Jesus came down from Heaven, shed His blood for us, then ascended back into the heavens. He is the King of kings. His royality is unquestionable.
Under the law, purple was demanded. In Christ, the offer to come share His royality, is held forth in love. If we accept his offer, we will bear,in our soul, the blood that cleanses us and the joys of heaven. Christ will reign royal in our heart.
