the Arctic wind blows,
It chills you way on
down deep in your soul.
The winter so lonely,
so dark, and so long,
Will you ever again
hear the bird's song?
Though it can be difficult,
taxing, and bleak,
There is beauty there too
If you are willing to seek.
Staring up at the sky
On a clear Alaska night,
Watch the dance of Aurora,
A magnificent sight.
See the strength and resolve
Of the tiny chickadee,
While others go south,
She chooses not to flee.
She stays here and to
Her his family she tends,
She knows the long winter
Must eventually end.
And Christmas up here
Is a magical thing,
Making children of
Every age want to sing.
With sledding and snow angels
And forts to be built
When you're little you enjoy
Winter to the hilt.
Yes it's long and it's cold,
And it surely gets old...
And just when you think
You can't take anymore,
God gives you a sign
And your hope is restored.
As you walk a path
Blanketed with snow,
Turn your eyes to the ground,
And take a look as you go.
You may see a delicate
Pansy's smiling face,
Pushing up through the snow
In this desolate place.
Like the chickadee,
The pansy has the resolve,
To wait out the winter
Till the ice has dissolved.
“Consider the birds and the flowers...”
Even in the snowiest flurry,
God provides for them all
And they don't fret or worry.
Winter, though long,
Must come to an end,
While waiting for the Spring,
On Him we depend.
Because even in winter
The heart needn't be frozen,
How blessed are we to be
Our Father God's chosen!
It is patience He's building
In us as we wait,
For the return of the roses
Blooming at the gate.
He promised to us
He would never depart,
And all winter long,
Summer is there in our heart.

Loved your poem immensely! Just one night watching the aurora borealis(northern lights) is worth at least half a winter. A quarter?!
Nice ending...summer is in the heart! Yes!
Well written, nice rhythm too.
