Excited and elated gentle soft and sweet.
Within two hours contentment’s become,
Bored, annoyed and weary of such humdrum.
As the trip is peaking to the middle-most spot,
Contentment’s turned cranky, hungry, and hot.
Nothing else will do save an expeditious pit stop,
Anyone will do, Burger King, Wendy’s even I Hop.
Edacity’s been assuaged and contentment’s restored,
As the sleepy children become life’s sweetest reward.
Serenity lasts a minute much too weak to withstand,
All the merriment and games that chaos has planned.
First comes “are we there yet?” a game of repetition,
Next comes the “bickering” a winsome competition.
It’s always the same in spite of their respective age.
In the annals of car trips monotony won’t disengage.
So just grin and bear it til destination’s been attained,
Then restful recuperation will, most triumphantly reign.
