But, along came the serpent who was very cunning and who used his charm to deceive Eve, the first woman into eating the fruit of the tree of good and evil. Now Eve had not been giving intructions by God, but only by her husband Adam. So Eve being tricked by the serpent ate the fruit, and in turn she gave the fruit to her husband Adam, who willfully ate the fruit and they both became exposed and revelation came of good and evil and it was unleashed upon this world.
So why did Adam, who had been given instructions not to eat from that tree, willfully make a sacrifice to sin?
You see if it had not been for Adam's sacrifice to sin, then the world would not have been destroyed and replenished with every kind of living creature and mankind. And if it had not been for the sacrifice of Adam's sin, then there would not have been a need for a Savior, but because of the sacrifice of eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil one acquired the revelation of a need to be redeemed from the power of darkness and that need could not be made manifest without the birth, death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was there in the beginning, because in Genesis, it says "in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word is God" so Christ (divinity) was there in spirit with God, but the Word had to be made manifest which was the birth of Jesus in humanity, which thereafter became Savior. So that is why we celebrate Christmas, it is a rememberance of the birth of a Savior, which had to take place so that the sin of the world could be redeemed. The reason that Christmas is a season is because seasons don't last long, they end and go into the next one, so it was with Jesus' ministry on earth, it lasted for 33 years and then came the ultimate sacrifice.
So let's remember the reason that we celebrate Christmas, it's not just about the gifts because with the way that the economy is now, there may not be many gifts to share, it's not just about the pine trees, although they do symbolize the life that was sacrificed by Jesus Christ. It's not just about the candy canes, although they represent His shedding of the blood and the sacrificial lamb which was pure and without blemish. We have been given the gift, all one has to do is receive Him and share Him. He is the reason for the season of Christmas.
