Quick, turn the corner.
The wooden spoon follows,
Stirring up trouble.
Closet door is open—
She hides.
A game is in play
Or is it a struggle?
Dishing out rewards
Or fouls and demerits
By the one who started it.
She cries.
Front door, back door,
All around the house,
She hits the street running.
The neighbors, are they looking
Or closing their curtains?
One spies.
The rules have changed;
It’s mental mangling
So beyond her grasp.
She keeps on pretending,
Not athletic or healthy,
She tries.
Please stop the cycle;
Let her get off now.
Her head is spinning;
Will it be life or death?
It’s the age-old question—
Surprise.
Is her life just for sport?
Or a joke, whose is it?
Her journals are full
Of pain and despair;
Words on the offensive,
Life size.
The referee blows the whistle.
Even in a marathon
A breather is allowed.
Fresh life-giving water,
Reviving to the soul,
Is wise.
She opens the plan book;
The rules haven’t changed.
Love is the winner;
The ball is in their court.
Waiting for the outcome,
She sighs.
Skirmish is ending;
This game’s not reality
But survival is a must.
Open dialogue on certain issues,
A brainteaser, a puzzler,
Take sides.
Maneuvers are useless.
Competition meets at a cross;
Kneeling in surrender
The tussle has ended.
Unity for the winners
The prize.
