“Good morning, Ivy. What a glorious day.”
“Yes, Snapdragon. At least it’s beginning that way, but who knows what each hour holds.”
“Ivy, I’ve been watching as you have crept nearer. Do you grow weary clawing your way ever upwards?”
“Do you grow weary standing at attention all day, Snap?”
“But, I’m not ‘standing at attention’, Ivy. I’m just growing as God planned.”
“And, I, too, am just following the path God planned for me.”
“Oh, I see. Ah, look, Morning Glory’s blooms are opened. ‘Morning, Glory.”
A breeze exhaling across the yard allowed Glory to nod a few blossoms in the direction of Snap and Ivy.
“Glory’s blossoms are such a pretty blue. I wish she would leave them open for us to enjoy throughout the day.”
“Her blossoms are pretty, but they are too small to withstand the heat of the day. The warm temperature tires her, so she folds the petals to retain as much water as she can and she sleeps while the air is its driest.”
“How do you know so much, Ivy?”
“Unlike you, this is not my only year in the garden. I began as a small sprig in a pot. Each year I am able to learn more about the lay of the land and then, make the most of my position.”
The morning calm was broken by the slamming of the back screen door. “He lied to me, again. Oh, when is this going to stop. How stupid does he think I am? How stupid am I? I hate him. Do you hear me? I hate him, except that I love him so much.” The ranting gave way to weeping as the figure slumped over the stone bench.
“Look, Ivy, that one is making its own dew, but then losing the precious drops before they can be absorbed.”
“That’s not dew, Snap. That moisture is called ‘tears’. As far as I know, those creatures are the only ones who make them.”
“The making of these tears seems to have disrupted the calm of our space. My leaves are quivering, the hairs on my roots are contracting, my petals are leaning close to my stem. What is this?”
“These creatures refer to this as being upset or anxious. When something in their life doesn’t go the way they have planned, they may make these tears.”
“The way they have planned? I don’t understand, Ivy. Why don’t they just follow the way God has planned? Why mess with perfection? After all, He has given us direct instruction. We are not to be anxious. We are to grow. We are to toil not, neither do we spin.” (1)
“So, Snap, your advice to these creatures of superior intelligence would be…?”
“Well, simple. Just follow God’s plan and life is a… snap.”
The twittering of the birds and the flitting of the butterflies told Snap that her humor had been enjoyed by all overhearing this chat in the garden.

Loved the idea of the flowers being in tune with God's plan for their lives. Well done, loved it :)
