Such a simple statement - so simply profound.
How many times has my Father asked for my heart? How many times have I withheld it from Him? How many times have I asked for His heart? Isn't His desire that I should have His heart and He should have mine?
I have requested many things from my Lord - protection, healing, patience, understanding, and self-control, to name just a few - but how often do I stop and cry out to Jesus to give me His heart? He is waiting, ready to give it if only I would ask.
Such a simple statement. To let those words slip from my tongue would be so easy, but I also want them to slip from my heart. I desire my longing to be after my Father's will, my hunger to be for His ways. I want to honestly cry out with my body, soul, and spirit, "Jesus, I want Your heart!"
But there is a circle that I cannot escape. In order to desire the heart of my Father, I must first have it. And that is the greatest gift of all - that which I most desire, and yet long to crave, has been given to me freely. My Father has already given me His heart.
