Remember the old vinyl records, the 45’s or the LP’s? I remember having some favorite tunes that I would play and play until there was a worn spot or scratch on the vinyl, and then the song would keep repeating at that spot. I would be singing along full volume and be rudely interrupted by the same phrase ringing in my ear over and over again.
The past can be that way sometimes too, repeating and repeating like the grooved spot on the record. You can’t go on and finish the song, you just stop singing it.
I heard a pastor say once “There is no future in your past”. Great truth in that short statement. All that hurt and turmoil from our past can effectively sideline us from a healthy, happy, fulfilling present or a hopeful future. You see, there is nothing that my worrying can do to change the events of the past, but I am finding a place to exchange those hurts – it is at the foot of the Cross. In Romans 8:28 it says “God causes all things to work together for good to those that love Him and are called according to His purpose.” It doesn’t say He caused all things, it is saying He will use those things for good. He can take the worst events of our past – things done to us and things done by us – and use them to weave character in us, to make us more empathetic and compassionate. Ministries and outreaches have been born in the shadows of adversity.
God asks that we would run to Him with all the hurt, so that He can heal us. But Satan would rather that we remain angry, bitter, immobilized prisoners of the events of our yesterdays – stuck in the past like that groove in the record. But God will use these same events to draw us to Himself. In Him alone can we go from being victims to becoming victorious!
I am asking God for spiritual Lasic surgery, so that He can improve my vision to see all that He has for me, those wonderful plans for good and not for evil, filled with a future and a hope.

One suggestion. Your ending line was very insightful, but it brought up a new analogy. It would've put the cherry on the top if you would have ended it with your original analogy in some way, maybe even tying in your title or something.
In Him alone can we go from being victims to becoming victorious!
