“Brokenhearted Worship”

The Pastor of the small church continued…

“One heart, one mind, one hope, and Christ exalted! Is this supposed to reflect a musical endeavor to bring the saints of God, and that is you and I, into the throne room of God’s grace and mercy? That is but a fraction of worship. Hebrews 4:16 says, Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

“We often think that music is the panicle of love we can show God on Sunday morning. I say that the panicle of love on Sunday morning is how you treat you family when they are running late, and you in your pride are more concerned about what others may think of you if you stroll into the sanctuary after service has already started. Tell me dear ones, have you shown the love of Christ to your family today? Or is it befitting of a saint to cause strife, or to belittle others in order to get your way, or focus on your clothes, your cars, or your position? Let us examine our hearts, and bow it to the king of kings for His glory. A saint of God is not the person canonized by the likes of man. It is the one who struggles day-to-day, hour-by-hour, and sometimes even minuet-by-minuet. Look with me at Deuteronomy 33:1-3, this is Moses’ Final Blessing on Israel.”

Now this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.
and he said:
“The LORD came from Sinai,
And dawned on them from Seir;
He shone forth from Mount Paran,
And He came with ten thousands of saints;
From His right hand
Came a fiery law for them.
Yes, He loves the people;
All His saints are in Your hand;
They sit down at Your feet;
Everyone receives Your words.

“Notice that he says… He came with ten thousands of saints. Did you catch that? There is an “S” at the end of the word thousand. Signifying a huge number that cannot be counted.”

A voice from an 80-year-old man forces out an, “AMEN.”

The Pastor closed the Holy Bible, and started to sob, then he spoke sternly.

“We are to be of one heart, but our hearts are divided into many denominations. We are to be of one mind, but our thoughts are dissonant, like sour notes of praise. We are to be of one hope, but our hope so often lies in self. We are to be of one body, in order to exalt Christ Jesus. We are the saints of God. True worship is everything we do, say, and are. If this is true… what do we really represent? God is waiting for your answer… saints.”

As he stepped down from the pulpit, and started to walk down the isle he stopped, turned, stepped behind the pulpit once again, and re-opened God’s Word.

“I can’t leave you like this. God is not mad at you. I am just frustrated. If I were to leave you in this present state I would misrepresent my Lord. Please remember Lamentations 3:22-24
Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
“ The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,
“ Therefore I hope in Him!”

“I love you. That is why I hurt inside. I don’t want you to miss out on even one blessing that God has prepared for you. If I love you… how much more does Christ who died for our sin that we might be fittingly called, His saints.”

With bible in hand, and a brokenness of heart he sang the first verse of “Amazing Grace” acapella.
