My pen gives me wings to soar out of stress and routine. I can fly over worlds unknown, populated with characters of my design. I become architect, engineer and ruler of the realm. Today I may go to the past to walk the dusty streets of Palestine with my Lord. Tomorrow I may travel to Mars or some planet yet unfound.
One day I may seriously teach a new craft or the story of Jesus to a child. There are a few soapboxes on which I can take my stand, sounding much like a politician. In tender moments my pen will spread the love of Jesus. I will try to change the world as others have done with sharpened pen.
By the pen I can give new life to those already gone, with tender emotion. Now I will portray evil so starkly to convict the soul to repentance. Then I’ll fill life with romance and love.
The words can lead to the depths of despair and through a redemptive climb to the heights of joy or from joy cause tears of sorrow to flow. The words written today can spark the imagination of the next generation. If my pen can lead both of us to soar to places of make believe, visit the past or future or learn some new thing, the writer will be a success.
