He proceeded to sing the song he had learned in pre-school, while making bread. The rhythm was perfect as his grandmother continued to knead the dough and smile. Pulling up a stool, the three-year-old climbed up to help while he continued to sing.
“What are we kneading?”
“Coffeecakes.”
“Oh, yuck! I don’t want coffee in my cake.”

What was to have been a baking session with her daughter-in-law turned into a precious Grandma time. They did make one pan of irregularly-shaped cinnamon rolls, which were the “bestest” ever; and six coffeecakes with various fillings.
That was a year ago, but at Christmas time, her now four-year-old grandson asked, “Gram, are we kneading cinnamon rolls this year? I still know the kneading song? And we can make those coffeecakes- just fill them with the good stuff... not coffee. Okay?”
He remembered! That is when a grandmother’s heart is truly blessed.
Someone said, “Only in eternity will we know how powerful the influence of a grandparent.” This grandmother works at making all their Gramma Moments count for eternity.
