consume of Your essence
all Your glory and shame
all Your wonder and fame.
I volunteer, Lord , to know Your relevance
in this world that breathes a false unbalance
between Your glory and shame
when we don't understand the power of Your Name.
I volunteer, Lord, to renew my faith
when I understand the purpose and place
when they collide; Your glory and shame
and the two are simply one and the same.
You volunteered, Lord, to come to my present,
a gift of my time, was Your gift to my presence
and the truth of Your glory is attached to my shame
and the wonder of all is I have a new name.
You volunteered, Lord, to cling to a beam
and finally, Lord, there's a bright shining beam
in the innocent eyes of a child full of shame,
trusting the simple fact that You came.
