The power of love in children everywhere is seen in the trustful manner they present to those who have been entrusted with them. They eagerly accept that the way they are treated is the way that all children are treated.

When my children were little they would crawl up on my bed at night and want to share every detail of their day, including their favorite songs. Those are memories I will forever cherish.

But what happens when that faith is broken. Jesus said that it would be better that a millstone be tied around that person’s neck than for a little one to be harmed.

Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

It seems like everyday someone wants to snatch our children from us. When harm comes to our children it not only hurts us, it hurts them. Their love and trust is taken away, and fear readily takes their place.

One of the most precious moments I have as a mother was when my oldest son was in Special Education. One year he participated in Special Olympics. Every child who entered an event won some kind of medal. The look on the faces of the children was enough to bring tears to ones eyes. Their grins reached from ear to ear. They readily hugged or high fived their teacher and parent who was right there beside them to cheer them to the finish line. They have so much to give, and they love unconditionally.

Why would anyone want to wipe that smile from their face, or take away their trust? Yet everyday, someone wants to do just that.

Mark 10:13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

Jesus loved the children, shouldn’t we also love them, and keep their trust and devotion? Let’s keep the love of the children, and reach out and take the hand that is reaching out to us. We might get a big surprise when we take it. We might find that there is a prayer on his or her lips just for us. And his or her smile will melt the hardest heart. Never underestimate the love of a child, or the power of love in children everywhere.

It took me two reads before I realized that your title was an acrostic and that you used it in your first paragraph--maybe italicize, or capitalize the first letters of the words in the phrase?

A tender story, full of love and grace.
