what could be
and never will
her heart wasn’t
sure of the lead
did she want
what He revealed?
a prayer was offered
here and there
as a farmer might sew a grain
her faith was tried
still she denied
and the answer still remained
down one path
curves and climbs
to a home so far away
and another still
her home would be
a harder place to stay
as her thoughts chased
turning options
in her mind
she began to listen
to a small voice
she often left behind
“Stay here and wait,
I will provide,
I promise not to leave”
and whispers of hope
sounded in echo
He spoke-
this time
she believed
"work here,
work now,
stay close,
sit still,
know that I am God-
and I will take you
to a place
where all the saints have trod"
"but work will not
build this road
your acts
would be in vain
check your heart
my grace
and an empty grave
in which remains"
this is the answer
the question revealed
in confidence
now she stands
decisions clear
her hearts was steered
by His gentle, open hand
