It's the sound of crying. It's the sound of anger. It's guns firing, rockets blasting, the bombs bursting in air!
Gave proof to our land that our flag was still there.
Gives proof to all lands that our fight is still there, today.
Listen! You can hear it! The cries from around the world infiltrate our "peaceful" borders and give proof to our land, and even to our heartland, that the fight is still there. Soldiers march, march, march, marching on to the call of duty. Purpose in every step. Driven by something bigger than their own lives, bigger than their own importance.
Do you hear it? Can you sense it? The bombs bursting in air some 200 years ago are still echoing, reverberating around the world as rhythmically as the heart beats to gain freedom. The Pilgrims foot stepped on the rocky shore, seeking something larger than a piece of land. Anger was stirred up in the old country as the children that had been breathed into life stepped over the boundary that had been set for them.
Some 200 years ago, it was a simple step. A common, gentle but gallant, walk across our eastern shore. But, today, it's different.
Do you hear it? Can you sense it? It's a march, march, march, marching on to an upward call. We used to be able to take a step, and that meant something. Now, the times demand that it be a more diligent stride. The times require that we march, not just walk in that gallant, meaningful way.
It's the sound of crying. It's the sound of anger. It's guns firing, rockets blasting. When freedom rang in the hearts of soldiers and common folks at the birth of our country, an infiltration occurred that reverberates today. It was an infiltration of hope for minute, personal lives to have importance. And, just like a military arsenal of armies infiltrates the enemy's borders, hope infiltrates our enemy's strongholds. Hope stirs up in the hearts of those who've been bound by the enemy, whether it be a dictator or a flailed democracy.
It's incited by the rise of democracy in new places! How can anyone justify the thought of quenching the spirit of renewed hope in ancient lands?! How can those who have been so immensely blessed by it withhold assistance for others to achieve it?!
Yes, it takes more than stepping on the rocky shore, as our forefathers did. It's more than a gentle, gallant walk. The enemy is more intense, more determined because he's more fearful than ever before that hope has infiltrated his ranks and begun to draw his subjects into kingship of the living Lord. They may not seek Christ today, but, the seeds are being planted.
Do you hear it? It's now a march! Can you open your eyes and picture what's really happening? New lands are forming out of old. New hope is forming. It calls for marching. It calls for hard things. Indeed, it calls for commitment. A soldier who marches, does so determinedly, with purpose in every step. His stride is perfect.
Psalm 1:1 and 2 states, "Blessed is the man who does not walk in the council of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers, but, his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law does he meditate both day and night." 1
Whether or not our feet stand on a Mideast battleground, if we choose to not walk in the council of the wicked, but delight in the law of the Lord, our times have defined our steps. We are now not just engaged in a common, gentle but gallant walk. We've got our marching orders! We may be true soldiers in the eyes of the Lord as we march (albeit, on our knees), praying that freedom will continue to ring throughout our world. The infiltration of hope began, not some 200 years ago, but, some 2000 years ago on a cross at Calvary.
Do you hear it? Can you sense it? The bombs bursting in air, when freedom rang in the hearts of soldiers and common folks at the birth of our country? It was already an echo, a reverberating from 2000 years ago.
Yes, freedom rang through the birthing process of our country. Now, let freedom reign!
1. Psalm1: 1, 2 (NAS)
