Topic: Favoritism (02/28/05)
I think I looked in every book I could find.
I looked in dictionaries and encyclopedias, and I looked on every line.
I looked at my fiction, I looked at poetry, I even searched old files in my desk.
I looked at my Bible, I tried textbooks, I even looked on the "net".
There were bad ones and good ones, and confusing ones too.
I cannot write all I found, so here are a few:
There's socialism, marxism, and communism, they're sort of alike.
Then there's liberalism, nationalism, and conservatism on the right.
There's patriotism, constitutionalism, and spiritualism too.
There are so many 'isms', I can't hardly choose.
So after all my effort, I can't make the call.
I guess I can't choose my favorite ism after all.

This is like a joke my Dad would have told at the supper table when I was a kid. We all would have groaned at the end. But we'd all have smiles on our faces too - just like I do now. Thanks for the funny.

David, this was a fun entry. Next time though, just make sure your word count is over 150 words (the minimum allowed for entries). This one came in at just 128 words - which even with the "grace factor" applied, was still too far under and had to be disqualified. We really hate having to disqualify any entry, but we have to do it in order to be fair to those who kept the rules. The minimum count is 150 words, and the maximum is 750. Hope to see more of your writing in the Challenges in the future - this was such a fun piece. Love, Deb (Challenge Co-ordinator)
