I may never have a perfect house. In fact, my current house may never be completely finished. There will always be projects to complete and never enough time to do all the nothing I want. I will always dream, always hope, always work and still have more on my “to do” list than on my “done” list. That’s life.
There will always be rich people who think themselves poor and poor people who think themselves rich. Then there will be those who really are what they think they are and those who really are what the world thinks they are. Prosperity is a matter of perspective. That’s life.
The homeless will always be with us. As long as Lenny lives, he will be in the crowd every morning on “The Today Show.” James will always walk the length of Central Ave. with that plastic bag on his right foot. He will be there, his long beard gray and unkempt. Wearing no coat, but walking swiftly with shoulders held high, he will be there every day: summer, winter, spring and fall until he breathes his last. We will always have single mothers, widows, orphans and hunger. This world will never be free of disease, drugs or violence. Peace is not tangible. That’s life.
That’s this life. But this life is passing. A new life is coming.
There is one God who has always been and will always be. He is sovereign, true, powerful and perfect. God is love. His Word gives life. To those who believe in His Son, God promises life abundant. Life abundant! Some say life is simply a series of ups and downs; that abundance may come in plentiful ups and downs or more extreme ups and downs. Life abundant is life to the fullest. God promises eternal life to those who believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. This promised life – a life eternal; a life abundant – is beautiful! Imagine … No tears. No guilt, no sin, no temptation. Light and gold and honor and glory. No more death or hunger or pain. Joy. Peace. Fulfillment. For eternity. Now, that’s life!
