The mob quickly formed against Paul and Silas, and the city officials ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden rods. They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn't escape. So he took no chances but put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks. Around midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a great earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! Acts 16
Dear friend, fellow believer, God never said it would be easy to follow Him. Jesus warned us that we would out of the heart experience all the issues of life but that we should also take courage that He has overcome the world. John 16:33
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Are you in the midst of disappointment, despair, discouragement? Pray! Sing! Child of God this is your challenge, this is your opportunity to crush the enemy under your feet. Watch what happens when Paul and Silas whom in all rights had every reason to fret, to fear, to become disappointed, despaired, discouraged. But instead they prayed and when they prayed the Spirit of song fell upon them and there in prison they sang hymns to God. I like the word Suddenly, especially when it has to do with a Child of God, that means something unexpectedly, without warning is going to happen and in this case prison doors were open, chains fell off and prisoners were set free.
Well, in the same way only in a spiritual application it means when you pray for your enemies, when you pray for the one who has hurt you, disappointed you, left you alone, stripped you of your character, beaten you with their words. It’s through your prayers that you have the opportunity to cause an earthquake that can shake the foundations. Doors will fling open and chains will fall off. Things will happen that will change your attitude, change the one you are praying for, change the circumstances.
I’m going to believe with you through prayer and song that the Holy Spirit will fall upon you. If you’re wondering how to do this or doubting that anything good could come from your circumstance let me encourage you that all you need is to be “willing” and the LORD will do the rest. Open your heart and surrender your cares to Him right now. Draw near to Him be honest with Him, He already knows all that you feel and think. Let the Spirit of the LORD rest on you. Isaiah 11:2
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD –
Father, You are faithful and there is nothing in this moment that you are not aware of. To the one who needs You and may not even know it reveal Yourself to them in such a way that would cause them to open their hearts. God Bless you richly with His presence as you allow Him to
