Topic: Love (04/27/06)
My husband and I are in the process of moving from Northern Missouri in the town where I was born to Southern Louisiana to a city I have visited twice. On one of my few, and his many, trips back and forth we listened to the Beatles 1 CD. Sometimes you have to create your own memories. Singing “Yellow Submarine” at the top of our lungs, while driving through the mountains of Arkansas was one of them. Our eight- year old son was in the back seat trying to get us to turn down the volume. He does not get the apparent whimsy of the lyrics.
We started the beginning of our move six months ago. He went down to help out a family member after Hurricane Rita. As a carpenter he knew that more work would come his way. We prayed and sought God and felt we should relocate as a family. God had spoken clearly. As I began to tie up ends in Missouri he began to plants some roots in Louisiana. Our marriage has been tested through many trials in the thirteen years we’ve been together. We have also had thirteen years worth of trials in the last six months. From how to figure logistics on moving long distance while trying to run a business. To being blindsided by trials you would never expect.
We have also had our share of blessings. Prayers offered up and granted even beyond my original request. Friends to help me through those days when I felt overwhelmed as a mother and as a person.
I have felt a gamut of emotions toward my husband in the last six months. But as we wrap up our final move this week I love him more than I did six months ago. We have stood together as a family and in the midst of the struggles agreed to overcome together. I look to God as my example. I know that no matter how bad things get He stands beside us ready to fight for us to move forward. He is there for me just like in the marriage vows, through better or worse. I am exhausted, I am overwhelmed but I believe I am stronger than I was six months ago. When I look at my husband I can say, “I love you” with not just the words. I can say it in the time and trial tested way. And when God tells me He loves me I can now catch a glimpse of how deep it really goes. Love may put you on the mountain, but it is proven in the valley.

Just a piece of advice given to me when I started writing in the challenge, leave some space between each paragraph. It makes it easier for others to read your writing. I just love your last sentence, "Love may put you on the mountain, but it is proven in the valley." This is beautiful truth. Blessings:)
