As a young Christian when I heard people talk about ministry I assumed it had to be really big like a church and you always had to minister to hundreds or thousands or millions of people. As time went by and I began to mature in my walk with God I began to understand that my ministry is my sphere of influence, that Christians are ambassadors for Christ and have been equipped to lend a helping hand to those whom they have the greatest influence on at any point in time. It may be a direct or indirect audience and we may influence them physically, emotionally or spiritually.
I have learned that you may have one or more ministries at the same time and as time goes on, it may or may not change. There was a time in my life my sole ministry was the kids. I had to quit trying to be someone more important and instill the fear of God in them early so that when they grow up they won’t forget. Motherhood is a very important ministry and should not be taken lightly. I have another now and it is writing I prayed hard to God and asked him how I could be of help to the many lonely people out there and he woke up the gift in me I had buried long ago. I hope now that my writing encourages others when they read the positive and life-giving words God has given me for them. Speaking the right word to a person at the right time can help turn their whole life around.
What about you? Are you a husband that could influence others and teach them bible principles of being a better husband/father? Or a student or teenager or brother/sister? Look around you, your ministry is staring at you, it’s that space crying for someone’s attention for much needed help and you have been strategically placed to do something worthwhile for God. Find your ministry where you can be of great help and diligently shine in it. Even if you only minister to one soul at a time, do it then look for the next person that you can be a blessing to, it doesn’t have to be about you all the time. Make space for others in your life. God bless you as you search out and get comfortable in your ministries
