I held my head in my hands as I sulked about my situation. I felt horrible. I felt horrible because I am horrible. The indictments were true. They hurt my ears with the declaration of the punishment for each one. The Accuser for the prosecution relished each transgression saying them slowly so they would sting my ears and pierce my heart. He spoke disdainfully laced with a sinister chuckle as he counted them down.

1) Lying; deceit
2) Arrogance
3) False Testimony; Perjury
4) Gossip-Spreading Discord
5) Malicious Intent; Quick to participate in wickedness
6) Creating Division; Spreading discord and gossip
7) Murder: killing the body; killing the integrity and honor of another; hatred (1)
The Accuser paused. In a bellowing voice he declared the verdict.
“Guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty! Your sentence is Death seven times over!” He momentarily laughed and then said, “But you cannot die seven times! So, you will spend an eternity in the lake of fire. “(Where your Master) will cut (you) to pieces and assign (you) a place with the hypocrites where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (2)”
The Accuser added more indictments on top of the grisly seven.
“Your body is a temple of devious behavior. Your thoughts have made you an adulterer. You take pleasure in clandestine, lewd behaviors. You are selfish and dabble in the dark arts. You abuse others with your harsh words. You are greedy and steal from others. You often drink to excess. You are an idolater chasing after mammon, ambition, and power. But most of all you are lukewarm when you knew you had to change your behavior.”
Again, in a zealous fervor, the Accuser spewed out “Guilty! The Law cannot save you; it only condemns you! This court now has condemned you! Your soul is mine forever to suffer and pay homage to me!”
The presiding judge asked me, “Where is your defense attorney? These are grievous charges leveled against you. As said by the prosecution, your guilt means death. Because of the severity of the charges, they cannot be commuted. What is your defense? So, what say you?”
I stood before the judge and breathed deeply before I spoke. My only defense was my weak, wavering faith. It was small as a mustard seed. Would it be enough to save me from this insidious time? There was no one to blame but myself.
Suddenly at my side was a man dressed in a white robe wearing sandals. “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.” (3) He looked at me saying, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” (4)
He grabbed my hands. I could see the holes in the palms of His hands and the same piercings on his feet.
I was incredulous! I fell to my knees. I impulsively said, “My Lord and my God! My sins are so excessive, so horrid. I am not worthy of your forgiveness. I sincerely repent of all my sins visible and invisible. Only say Your Word and I shall be healed. Restore to me the Holy Spirit. I take refuge in You, O my Savior God!”
Emboldened by the presence of my Savior, I looked squarely into the insidious red eyes of the Accuser saying,
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set (me) free from the law of sin and death.” (5)
The judge pounded His gavel saying, “Not guilty. The defendant has been cleansed through the Blood and Body of the Lamb. His transgressions are no more. He/she is free to go in peace to serve the Lord.”
The Accuser hissed and cursed as he fled the courtroom.
