I couldn't help but watch Iris as she knelt in prayer. There was something about the way she was leading this body of believers in worship. She didn't begin with a song or sermon. No, she started the service kneeling before the Almighty God in humble adoration and praise. Her prayer was even different. It was more like she was talking to someone in the same room with her.

Iris took her time as she was caught up in the communion that she was having with God. Her mode of worship was contagious and people in the room were captivated and began to join her.

True worship takes time. It is not sown in a snap of time.
It isn't, "Let's hurry up and get on with the service so we can get out of here."   It is not a peformance that we do every Sunday in deceiving ourselves into thinking we are really worshiping God. No, we are bowing before the Almighty One, who created heaven and earth. He is worthy of our time.

"But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers."

Iris presented the best example I had ever seen of worshiping in spirit and truth.   I say spirit because of her adoration and love. I use the word truth because of her apparent sincerity. I have honor and respect for her way of worship. It is mesmerizing. Her manner caused me to start questioning my own manner of adulation.

"Do I give God the proper respect He deserves?" I wondered, "Or do I care more about watching the people around me seeing how they are worshiping? Or are they noticing me and what are they thinking about me ?" How about you? Would you pray with me that we would be true worshipers and have that intimate relationship with God like I saw in Iris.

Prayer: "Heavenly Father, I repent for not being completely immersed in Your love which You offer so freely. I want to worship You with all my heart. I want to immerse myself in Your love so fully that I forget myself and what or who is around me. Will You help me? Thank You, heavenly Father, because I know that You always do help me.  These things I ask and pray in Jesus name. Amen."

(All pronouns referring God was capitalized by me. The name Iris is fictitional.
