Previous Challenge Entry (Level 2 – Intermediate)
Topic: Almighty (10/03/24)
The Christian dictionary tells me that an almighty God is perfect and all powerful and can do anything. In my forty-for years on earth. I have seen and felt God’s presence do powerful things in my life and other people’s.

When I was child, I was in special Education. God used his mighty power to help me. He gave me parents that wanted me to succeed in school despite my Disability. They went to every IEP meting (a meeting at the end of a school year with the special Education teacher, The child study team, and the child’s parents to discuss the upcoming school year.)

I remember when I was in High school, I was able to go to the IEP meetings. I remember at one IEP meeting, my parents, wanted me to take an algebra class. The special Education department told my parents that I could not handle it. My parents insisted and I did pass. It gave me confidence.

When it was time to think about what I wanted to do after High school, I felt God tugging at my heart to go to college. I told everyone that I wanted to go to college, and everybody thought I was crazy because I struggled in school. My parents sent me to a community college.

The community College was hard for me. When I struggled with my homework, or a test, I would say to myself, I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13). I graduated with a Health and Physical Education. My GPA was a 3.0. I still wanted to continue my education.

I got accepted at Rowan University and I studied Sociology. God brought the right teachers in my life and support team. My professors, knew that I was working hard in class. If I did not understand something my teachers would stay with me until I did.
My advisor had me as a student in his class. He knew what I could handle. I decided to take a children’s writing class for the next fall semester and my advisor agreed. I was scared. I ended up getting and A-. I have written a eight book series on Kitty, my cat, with the critique of my writer’s group. They have encouraged me to have them published because they are delightful. I am, currently involved in writing a children’s summer mystery.

With Gods mighty hand in my education. I graduated with a Sociology degree with a 3.7. I have been unable to find work in my field, but have worked at Acme for twenty plus years.

I have struggled understanding my Bible for a long time, I grew up in a church and I always read my Bible, but I did not understand it. I kept asking God please help me understand the Bible.

At church I met a friend. We decided to have a Bible study. I asked her what Bible she is was using. She told me a Women’s study Bible. I did not want it at first because I am not married and I do not have any children. I bought the Bible. It only has a couple of things about being married and having children. I love this Bile and understand it. I now love going to Bible studies and growing close to God.
I have seen God heal people with his mighty hand. I have a family member who had tongue cancer. He is fine now. I have another family member with skin issues. I would not know what to do without these family members.

I have felt God’s might power healing my eyes. Last spring I found out that I had a blister behind my eye. My doctor, told me that it is from stress or steroids. I knew I stressed a lot. I told my boss that I could not check at the register much because I could not stress. He listened to me. I got rid of Facebook and I started studding Joshua from the Bible. I also prayed for my eyes. I went back to the doctors and my inflammation in my eye went down, and he told me my eyes are getting Beter. I cried to God because he healed me and answered my prayers.

I love Him very much and want to continue to know Him and all his ways.

I found much joy in reading your testimony and your constant care to give God the glory in each situation and challenge you endured.
I will be looking for that series about Kitty for my Grand Children.

This is a powerful testimony. I have two kids who had learning disabilities and struggled in school so my heart ached for the child in you. (Although they beat the odds, both obtained Master's degrees and one went to Duke Divinity and became a pastor and the other is a counselor.) I don't think you needed the first line or two. Instead you might want to jump right into the conflict. There's some tightening you could do that would eliminate repetition and help the flow. I'm excited that you are considering publishing and are writing my favorite genre (children's stories). If you do publish, make sure you get a professional editor (I'd be happy to work with you.) and don't rely on just the critique group. I can feel your passion in your words. You did a fine job of writing on topic and connecting with this reader. Keep reading, writing, and leave comments on other entries.
