Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven which no man can take
Rejoice and be exceedingly glad in heaven the reward is great
They persecuted the prophets before, you get to see their fate
Remember Lord Jesus said they persecuted him we’re no better
They will persecute us or keep Jesus’ given sayings to the letter
If they keep his sayings, they will also be keeping the truth
Having faith believing the truth whether old or in their youth
Which prophet hasn’t been persecuted, slain, all were betrayed
Coming the Just One of whom persecutors persecuted and slayed
Saul persecuted Christian’s binding prisoners taking them to death
Punished believers in synagogues and strange cities with every breath
Saul was a persecutor of the church of God until he saw the light
On the road to Damascus Saul was blinded by that which is right
Lord Jesus changed Saul’s name to Paul and Jesus took his sight
Paul had heard the truth that day but would be blind that night
Now Paul said he is the least of all apostles the others also heard
The apostles heard he who persecuted the church spoke the word
Now Paul was preaching the faith which once he had destroyed
And when the Lord Jesus found Paul, was Paul really overjoyed
On my knees and praying tears streaming asking for forgiveness
I had persecuted my Lord but didn’t want to live in lasciviousness
Like Paul born after the flesh persecuted him born after the Spirit
My Lord Jesus gave me peace and joy from God to listen and hear it
There are some that please not God they are contrary to all men
Killed Lord Jesus their own prophets and persecute yet again
But if you resist the devil then he will flee from you just pray
We will be persecuted, and we will suffer as if only for a day

I did find the punctuation a little confusing and at times lacking, thus changing the emphasis of a super approach to the topic.
