Though barely above the winds
The storms of a thousand worlds
Fill my soul
Deep inside it’s growing so cold
Though in pain, I am becoming numb
The driven rain hitting my flesh like
Icy little knives
Ripping apart this flesh of mine
Pain so much more than I can bear
O God deliver me from this now
Before I die
These things I participated in
Were not supposed to be so bad
God just ask anyone and they’ll say
It is so
Again you speak in power a word
I am all but deaf in this storm
Why oh why won’t you reach out
And save me
This word you speak above the din
My heart is trying to understand
Can you, will you, do this now
If I bend
Slowly before you, I fall to my knees
My flesh frozen, my heart as stone
An excruciating light and then
Fade to black...
While asleep I began to hear
Something more than my beating heart
A heavenly music so sublime
I have peace
I awake to find this peace and rest
From the raging storms I created
Because the power of my flesh and will
Had to break
Like the waves on the shore
It is for my will so strong
From desires that distract,O Lord,
Break me always.

This piece resonated with me, and I can tell you I was exactly in this place this week, and today was the day I awoke to find peace and rest.
You captured the emotions and the need for us to be broken, to break our will down so God's will can enter. I know exactly how it feels to be "all but deaf in this storm" and the "pain so much more than I can bear".
I love the image of our will "from desires that distract" building forcefully and traversing an ocean before breaking on the shore, and the "raging storms I created" because that's exactly how it is.
Thank you for writing this, I think God meant it just for me this week.
